2014 Ford Escape Overview

Ford reinvents the industry’s top-selling SUV for 2013, trading the Escape’s formerly boxy shape for a far more rounded profile with an oversized front grille. A V-6 engine is no longer offered, neither is a gas/electric hybrid-powered model. Instead, the new Escape comes powered by a choice of three four-cylinders, the previous model’s 2.5-liter, a slightly more powerful and fuel-efficient turbocharged 1.6-liter version and a 2.0-liter turbo-four that produces V6-like thrust. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard across the line, with all-wheel-drive (AWD) optional. The vehicle’s driving dynamics are more engaging than with the previous version. New features include a novel power liftgate that opens with a kicking motion under the rear bumper.
